Rich Drazin

A new year at LVC, starts a new season and a new league for the LVC Ice Hockey team.  In the past, ice hockey has struggled to achieve a 500 record, but this year the team is already (4-0).  The great start might be attributed to an easier league or the players are getting better.

One in particular outstanding player is Rich Drazin, '11, business administration major, who has been the goalie for the Dutchmen since freshman year.  So far this year Rich has had 108 saves in four games.  His overall save percentage for the three years is .854.

Coming up for the Dutchmen is a home game against Kutztown University this Friday.  The games are held at the old Hershey Bear's Arena, so please come out and support the team.

Homecoming, a day to catch-up with alumni and a day to watch FOOTBALL and what a day it was.
Football won an exciting game, coming back from a 21 to 0 deficit to beat FDU-Florham in the fourth quarter.  Also there were wins by field hockey, women's soccer, and volleyball.

Ben Guiles '12, a business administration major, tied a school record for most touchdowns in the second quarter, with four altogether.  This allowed LVC to win the game 33 to 21.  Ben is the leading scorer this year for the Dutchmen, with ten touchdowns this season.  His hard work paid off by being named to the Middle Atlantic Conference football honor roll.  Also the game marked his 2,000 career rushing yards. Next week the team takes on Kings at 1pm.

Volleyball clinched a playoff spot when they defeated Messiah on Wednesday.  This will be the teams eighth straight appearance in the conference playoffs.

Emily Perkins '11, an accounting major, holds the team record for most assists in a career, with a total of 3,065.  During the match against Messiah, Perkins had 36 assists and eight digs.  Currently, Perkins is ranked 22nd in the nation for assists, but I would bet that will change when the season is over.

Coming up for the Dutchmen is a tournament at MIT this weekend.  The team is also looking to achieve its third straight Commonwealth Title this season and make it into the NCAA's.

LVC's Men's Soccer played Scranton this past Wednesday, making their record 6-4 overall.  A key player for all of their wins has to be sophomore James Clements, an Actuarial Science major.  This is his first year as the goal keeper for the Dutchmen and he already has 40 saves that count for 4 of the teams 6 wins and one shut out.
Coming up for the Dutchmen is the start of conference play, including a big game against Alvernia and Elizabethtown, next week.

Jenn Cronin '11 a spanish education and history major, is the number one runner for Dutchmen Cross Country.  Last year Jenn qualified for nationals, which was the first time for any Dutchmen Cross Country runner.  She also was the regional champion and came in the top three at all of her meets.
This year Jenn has continued her streak as being in the top three.  So far she has placed first in all of her meets, but today will be a test, as the team goes to the best invitational on the east coast.
The Paul Short Invitational brings in all divisions of cross county.  Last year Jenn placed third for division three and she is looking to beat that this year.  Below is a video of the teams practice.
